Welcome to the Department of Orthopedic Surgery!

In an aging society with a growing demand for mobility, orthopedic disorders will increasingly be in the focus. Orthopedic Surgery at the University Hospital Aachen (Universitätsklinikum Aachen) has a long tradition, that goes back to its founding father Professor Dr. Dr. h.c. Friedrich Pauwels. Last year, a generational change took place in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery.

After many years as a senior orthopedic surgeon and assistant clinical director in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Regensburg, Professor Dr. Markus Tingart became the new director of the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at the University Hospital Aachen

The new team has set itself the goal of developing existing orthopedic techniques and establishing new and innovative technologies in collaboration with other disciplines. It aims for a progressive opening of the Orthopedic Clinic and increased cooperation with colleagues and hospitals established in the Aachen region and nationwide.

In the department of Orthopedic Surgery approximately 15,000 patients are treated per year and 1,500 operations are performed.The new team of internationally known specialist in the field of orthopedics treats all diseases from the entire spectrum of conservative and operative orthopedics.
