This working group uses magnetoencephalography (MEG) and functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) techniques to analyze the cerebral correlates of genotypic and phenotypic characteristics of psychiatric disorders and the effect of pharmacological interventions on human brain functions. The team's research aims to find ways of describing and treating illnesses based on neurobiological markers (endophenotypes). Simulated social behavior in computer games and real-time imaging to provide neurological feedback are particularly helpful to the team in its work. The Experimental Behavioral Psychobiology group forms an integral part of neurosciences research at RWTH Aachen, and it works closely with other clinics and institutes at the university. It also collaborates with Forschungszentrum Jülich in the JARA-BRAIN alliance.
