The research at the Department of Geriatrics is interdisciplinary aligned to host studies on various topics in geriatrics and gerontology. Thus, our research portfolio includes topics such as the study of the biological basis of aging (Biogerontology), the diagnosis and treatment of age-related diseases (Geriatrics) as well as the development of technical devices which are specifically designed for the needs of the elderly (Gerontechnology).

Our research projects are mainly funded by external organizations (Robert Bosch Foundation) and by national and international industry partners. In addition, we host fellows supported by different funding programs as well as undergraduate and graduate students who accomplish educational programs on related disciplines within Geriatrics and Aging
