How to get to the Venue: Your journey to Uniklinik RWTH Aachen

Situated close to the borders of Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands, Aachen has excellent transport connections and is located close to the European motorway corridor linking Brussels, Paris and Antwerp. Besides its railway links, Aachen also benefits from its proximity to Düsseldorf, Cologne, Frankfurt, Maastricht-Aachen, Brussels and Mönchengladbach airports.

 
International Arrivals:

From Frankfurt Airport (FRA)

By train: The train ride from Frankfurt to Aachen takes about two to three hours, depending on the connections, and might include a changeover at Cologne Main Train Station. The costs vary depending on if you take a regional train with stops in between or quicker ICE connection with the Deutsche Bahn (see below). From Dusseldorf Airport (DUS)

By train: Depending on the connections, the train ride from Dusseldorf to Aachen takes about one and a half to two hours with the Deutsche Bahn. Some connections require a changeover at Dusseldorf Main Train Station or Cologne Main Train Station. We recommend taking the Regional Express 1 (RE1) direction Aachen Hbf (ride time approx. 1 ½ hours). This is a direct connection. From Cologne/Bonn Airport (CGN)

By train: Depending on the connections, the train ride with Deutsche Bahn from Cologne/Bonn Airport to Aachen takes about one to one and half hours with a changeover at Cologne Main Train Station. We recommend taking the Regional Express direction Düren (RE19) or Mönchengladbach (RB27), respectively, towards Cologne main station (Köln Hbf). S-Bahn S13 (direction Sindorf) is also possible. At Cologne main station, take Regional Express direction Aachen Hbf (RE 1 or RE 9; ride time approx. 1 hour).

From Maastricht Airport

By bus: The shuttle transfer from Maastricht Airport to the Maastricht bus terminal takes about 20 minutes. The shuttle bus stops across from the passenger terminal and waits in the event that a flight is delayed. You can take bus line 350 from the Maastricht bus terminal to Aachen. On line 350 you can pay cash or by card. In Aachen you can switch to a local bus, which will bring you to your accommodations.

From Brussels Zaventem or Brussels Charleroi

By train: take Deutsche Bahn from Brussels or alternatively use Belgian rail (SNCB). The journey takes around 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on your connection.Our tips: travelers between 12 and 26 years of age can travel at a reduced rate with the Go Pass Aachen Ticket. Private bus companies offer transfers from Brussels Zaventem and Charleroi to Aachen. You usually have to book these online in advance. The journey takes around 2.5 to 3 hours.

Travel by train (Deutsche Bahn):

Tickets can be acquired with either cash, credit card or online as follows:

  • at all DB shops
  • onboard ICE/IC/EC directly from the train attendant (price on board)
  • at DB automats machines at regional stations at any time
  • at the train office at the airport
  • on the Deutsche Bahn website or in the DB Navigator app

By car

At Aachener Kreuz take the Holland-Linie (A4) towards Antwerpen/ Heerlen. You leave the motorway at the exit No. 2 Aachen-Laurensberg, turn right, then continue towards Maastricht and follow on a 4-lane feeder road the signs "Uniklinik". Parking (pay) is in front of the building.

By bus:

From Aachen main station:

On the opposite side of the street to the main station, you take at the bus stop H2 line 3B. This will take you directly to the portal of RWTH Aachen University Hospital.

By bus from Aachen Bushof:

Either take bus connection line 33 (direction Vaals) or 73 (direction Uniklinik) at bus stop H14, which is located at Kurhausstrasse or bus connection line 5 or line 45 (direction Uniklinik) at bus stop H11 (located at Peterstraße). Those will take you directly to the portal of RWTH Aachen University Hospital. Other connections require changing.

By bus from Elisenbrunnen

Either take bus connection line 5, line 43 or line 45 (direction Uniklinik) at bus stop H4 (in front of the Elisenbrunnen), or bus connection line 33 (bus stop H1, direction Vaals) at bus stop H1, which is located in front of the Elisengalerie. Those will take you directly to the portal of RWTH Aachen University Hospital. Other connections require changing.

By bus from Hansemannplatz:

Either take the bus connection line 3A (direction Ponttor/Uniklinik) at bus stop H3 or bus connection line 3B (direction Kaiserplatz/Uniklinik) at bus stop H2. Both connection lines are circle-lines and will eventually reach university hospital. 3A takes 12 min, 3B 20 min. Alternatively, take bus connection line 5 (direction Uniklinik). All bus stops are located at Heinrichsallee.
