University Hospital RWTH Aachen takes part in a research project developing "smart" 3D printed implants for repair of large bone defects.
(PRinting PERsonalized Orthopedic implantS), funded by the European Union.
The research focuses on the development of biologically active implants that can be tailor-made to fit the needs of the individual patient. Upon successful implementation, the implants offer faster patient recovery and a reduction in revision surgeries.
