Research interest:
Utilization of skin biopsy in the research and diagnostic of neurodegenerative diseases of the central nervous system (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease) and in hereditary peripheral neuropathies (Charcot-Marie- Tooth disease, Hereditary sensory and autonomous neuropathies).
Molecular neuropathology of peripheral sensory neuropathies, especially focusing on the role of the Ubiquitin-Proteosome system and Autophagy in the pathogenesis of these diseases.
Ultrastructural studies of neurodegenerative diseases, peripheral neuropathies and various neuromusculare diseases on human tissue as well as animal and cell culture models.
