ERN on Acute Care and Telemedicine (ERN-ACT)

Rare and complex diseases play an important role in Acute Care and Telemedicine and require the best possible multidisciplinary care and support. In the course of Acute Care diagnosis and treatment, differential pattern analysis and AI-enhanced recognition help to identify rare and complex diseases, which predominantly relate to lung, heart, liver or neurological disorders. The number of cases may be estimated as high as 9% of several thousand cases undergoing Acute Care in
one University Clinic Centre per year. Also Intensive Care Medicine is highly associated with rare diseases.

When patients, suffering from rare or complex diseases, require acute care, it is of pivotal importance to provide an appropriate collaborative expert knowledge base and identify conditions early and adequately. The acute care treatment situation, thereby, bears the opportunity to identify specific conditions and needs.

The network is an enormous win asset as it comes to identify a diagnosis an provides individualized therapy.

Early diagnosis and access to specialist care are key to define best personalised treatment schemes and improve the outcomes. Hence, ERN-ACT will not only offer mutual telemedical support, but also identifies and connects experts for specific diseases from other ERNs such as ERN-LUNG, ERN GUARD-heart and ERN-RND.

ERN-ACT enables better individualized therapy of patients, ensures efficient therapy control of patients and enhances rapid adjustment of therapy.
