On Tuesday 18th of September, Nour Diab from the Hornef lab successfully defended her PhD thesis entitled “The Immunomodulatory role of Salmonella SopB delays early neonatal mucosal Inflammation and disease progression”. In her work, she analysed the phenotype after infection with Salmonella Typhimurium proficient or deficient in the SPI1-type 3 secretion system translocated bacterial effector protein SopB and identified and characterized its potent immunomodulatory effect.
