Paper of the month: Preisträger Dr. Rik Sijben

Dr. Rik Sijben and his team’s research shows that cooperation between people leads to synchronized brain activity, particularly in regions involved in understanding others, using simultaneous MRI scanning (hyperscanning) to study real-time social interaction. Their paper, “Wavelet Analysis of Dual-fMRI-Hyperscanning Reveals Cooperation- and Communication-Dependent Effects on Interbrain Neuronal Coherence,” received the “Paper of the Month” award for December 2025.
