Young Scientists get-together at the Faculty of Medicine

September 29th 2023, 15:30 – 19:30

Change the Universe…
the search for extra-institutional life-forms

On September 29th 2023, we will continue our journey to change the universe of research at the Faculty of Medicine at the RWTH Aachen University. Young scientists are invited to get together, exchange their experience in science and present some of their work. This time we want to focus even more on establishing contact between different institutions of the faculty.

We would be happy if this get-together result in long-lasting connections between the young scientist of the faculty.

When and where:
Friday, September 29th, 15:30 – 19:30 at CT² (Forckenbeckstraße 71, 52074 Aachen)

All members of RWTH and UK Aachen are welcome to join us. However, the afternoon particularly addresses all early career researchers (PostDocs and interns, PhD-, MD- and master students) connected to the Faculty of Medicine of the RWTH Aachen University.

Mathias Hornef (Vice-Dean of Research and Junior Researchers and Equality of Opportunity of the Faculty of Medicine)

Key note and talk:
Prof. Allan Mowat, Professor of Mucosal Immunology, University Of Glasgow: “Guts, Glasgow and beyond - a life in mucosal immunology”
Prof. Daisy Jonkers, Professor of “Intestinal Health” and Scientific Director of NUTRIM, University of Maastricht

Poster sessions:
Present your work, engage in discussion and see what others at our Faculty have been doing lately. (Registration with or without poster possible.) Early career researchers will be favored.

Flash talks:
Opt-in to our flash talk lottery. If you are selected, you can give a brief flash talk about your research and will get rewarded. (Participation is independent of a poster contribution, presenters are informed a little in advance.)

At a few information points you can find out about topics that could also affect your own research.

Between sessions and after the actual program has been completed, you can focus on meeting and connecting with your peers. Food and drinks are provided at the venue. To prolong your chats and discussions after 21:00 we have reserved some tables at Café Madrid (Pontstraße 141-149, self-pay basis) which can be easily reached from the bus stop "Ponttor".

If you are interested in joining us, please register here. The deadline for registration is September, 13.
