The outpatient clinic has two routine EEG devices each for the treatment of adults, children and adolescents. The inpatient area has eight fully equipped video-EEG recording stations (invasive and non-invasive recording) for continuous recording for adults and another two for children. If necessary, intensive medical treatment can be provided in the intensive care unit of the Department of Neurology or the Department of Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine.

Specialized magnetic resonance imaging examinations according to special criteria are carried out in collaboration with the Clinic for Diagnostic and Interventional Neuroradiology at the University Hospital, and nuclear medicine images of brain metabolism are also offered in collaboration with the local Clinic for Nuclear Medicine. There is close cooperation with the Center for Human Genetics at the University Hospital RWTH Aachen for human genetic issues.

In collaboration with the Department of Neurosurgery at RWTH Aachen University Hospital, we offer customized operations for the treatment of certain epilepsies, the insertion of EEG electrodes on the surface of the brain or in certain brain regions (intracranial and intracerebral electrodes) to enable a more detailed diagnosis of epilepsies, as well as the implantation of vagus nerve stimulators for the treatment of difficult-to-treat epilepsies.

Together with colleagues from the fields of occupational therapy, health and nursing care, speech therapy, physiotherapy and the socio-medical service, we provide comprehensive psychosocial care for adults with the aim of improving and maintaining their health and quality of life.

Psychosocial care for children and adolescents is provided on an inpatient basis by the psychosocial service of the Clinic for Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine. Outpatient treatment can be provided by the university outpatient clinic or the Social Pediatric Center as required.
