Research Projects
Rescue services, also in North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW), are facing a multitude of challenges such as constantly growing numbers of rescues (for example due to increasing expectations or helplessness of the population in choosing the right care structure), demographic changes, centralisation in the overall health system often accompanied by sector-specific approaches, shortage of specialists, etc. In conclusion, at least the following problems of today's emergency services and emergency medical care can be identified:
- Prolonged response times
- Increasing numbers of emergency missions, i.a. due to minor or non-emergencies
- Lack of qualified emergency doctors and rescue service personnel
- Lack of interface between supply service providers (e.g. health insurance service and emergency service)
- Limited use of current support possibilities in the control centre
- Lack of systematic quality control
- Great regional variations in the quality of care
