Research Group Metacognition
The Metacognition Research Group investigates the mechanisms through which individuals reflect on, evaluate, and regulate their thoughts, emotions, and behavior. A particular focus lies on the development and validation of psychological assessment instruments to measure metacognitive processes (e.g., decentering), as well as emotion- and self-esteem regulation strategies. Additional research priorities include the study of self-assessment and reflected appraisal in social interaction, along with psychological research questions surrounding Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS). We employ Ecological Momentary Assessment (EMA) as a method to capture feelings, thoughts, and behavior in daily life. The objective of the research group is to gain a deeper understanding of metacognitive processes and to demonstrate their significance for mental health and clinical applications.
