Let’s take a stand together against chronic pain: On August 29, anyone interested is invited to gather at the Dreiländereck in Aachen to raise awareness, foster understanding, and show solidarity.
Chronic pain affects about one in five people worldwide. For many of those affected, it means not only physical discomfort but also significant limitations in daily life, at work, and in social participation. Nevertheless, chronic pain often remains invisible and does not receive the societal attention it deserves. This is precisely where the GLOBAL WALK AGAINST PAIN (GWAP) comes in: This international initiative aims to bring people together around the world to show solidarity with those affected and to raise awareness of chronic pain.
The Aachen GWAP event is organized by the Scientific Center for Neuropathic Pain SCNAACHEN (speaker: Univ.-Prof. Angelika Lampert) and will take place on August 29, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Dreiländereck. Participation is free and open to everyone—regardless of age, fitness level, or personal experience with chronic pain. Registration is requested (see below).
GWAP events are taking place simultaneously in numerous locations around the world. Participants complete lap after lap along a designated route. The distances covered at each location are tallied and combined to form a total global distance. This collective achievement is showcased at walkagainstpain.org/—as a symbol of solidarity, awareness, and support.
Every step counts. Whether alone, with family, friends, or coworkers: Every participant helps raise awareness of chronic pain and gives those affected a stronger voice. Join us!
