AG Baumeister
Dr. Julian Baumeister's research group is dedicated to exploring novel therapeutic approaches for myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPN). MPNs are haematological diseases characterised by an abnormal proliferation of myeloid blood cell populations. Despite advances in MPN treatment, current treatment options remain limited, emphasising the urgency for innovative therapeutic strategies.
Recent evidence, including our own research findings, indicates that NADPH oxidase 2 (NOX2) may play a pivotal role in MPN pathogenesis, rendering it a potential target for therapeutic intervention.
This project aims to decipher the role of NOX2 in MPN and assess its potential as a therapeutic target. Through this investigation, we aim to develop innovative treatment strategies that could ultimately improve the clinical care of MPN patients.
The project is funded by the German Research Foundation (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, DFG).
