
Dr. rer. nat. Marisa Nordt

After studying psychology at the University of Münster with a focus on cognitive neuroscience, Marisa Nordt completed her PhD at Ruhr University Bochum on the neural basis of face recognition. She then spent three years as a postdoctoral researcher in the Vision and Perception Neuroscience Lab (PI: Prof. Kalanit Grill-Spector) at Stanford University, USA.
In February 2022, she began her position as a junior research group leader at the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, University Hospital RWTH Aachen.

Selina Cohnen

After completing her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology at the University of Cologne, Selina Cohnen specialized in cognitive and clinical neuroscience during her Master’s studies at Maastricht University, with a focus on psychopathology. As part of her Master’s program, she completed a nine-month internship at the University Hospital Aachen on the topic “Risk factors for the development of postpartum depression.”. She started her position as a PhD student in the AG Developmental Cognitive Neuroscience where she has since been studying the development of visual brain regions in the temporal cortex during childhood.

Larissa Kahler

Larissa Kahler earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology at the University of Salzburg and completed her Master’s degree at the University of Düsseldorf, focusing on clinical psychology and neuropsychology. She joined the AG Developmental Cognitive Neuroscience as a PhD student in August 2022. Her research focuses on the plasticity of visual brain regions in individuals who use sign language.

Kristina Bauer

After obtaining her Bachelor’s degree in Biology at the University of Bonn, Kristina Bauer completed her Master’s degree in Biotechnology at Aachen University of Applied Sciences.
In October 2025, she joined the AG Developmental Cognitive Neuroscience as a PhD student. Her research focuses on the neural foundations of learning to read.

Aleksandra Boiko

Aleksandra Boiko completed her Bachelor’s degree in Biology at RWTH Aachen University and continued her Master’s studies there in the same field. In 2023 and 2024, she worked as a student and research assistant in the AG Developmental Cognitive Neuroscience. In her Master’s thesis, she focused on cortical areas specialized in processing written words and text.
Since March 2025, she has continued to work in the group as a PhD student, further investigating the neural basis of reading.
