After hard work over many years on the postnatal maturation of antigen presenting cells in the intestinal Peyer’s patches after birth, Natalia has now published her results in the May edition of Immunity. Congratulations to this great and well-deserved success! This work provides the basis for further studies on the establishment of the mucosal adaptive immune system after birth and the particular role of the postnatal time window for the live-long susceptibility to certain immune-mediated diseases such as e.g. allergies and possible interventional preventive strategies.
