As a tertiary and quaternary level provider of medical care, the University Hospital of RWTH Aachen combines patient-oriented medicine and care, teaching and research at an international level. The clinic of Psychiatry, Psychotherapy and Psychosomatics is seeking to fill a position in the research area of Digital Mental Health as a 

PhD student (f/m/d)

starts as soon as possible with 65% (25.03 h/w) of the full collectively agreed working hours (currently 38.5 h/w), initially for a fixed term of 1 year, considering the WissZeitVG. There is the possibility of prolongation to a total of three years and the option to obtain a doctorate degree.

The Digital Mental Health Lab is investigating the possibilities of intensifying the use of digital applications with the aim of improving clinical patient care in psychiatry and promoting mental health in general. 

Your tasks:

In context of the objectives outlined above, the recruitment will take place as part of the implementation of the BMBF-funded "FRIEND" project. The project is carried out in cooperation with our industry partners and aims to create new possibilities for prevention, individual support and recovery of mental health by combining innovative technologies of artificial intelligence and voice control with psychiatric expertise.

Profile:

  • Degree in Artificial Intelligence/ Neuroscience/ Medical Engineering/ Psychology/ Computer Science/ Medicine or a related discipline, ideally with experience in Digital (Mental) Health or Human-Machine Interaction
  • Highly motivated and qualified researcher interested in the field of mental health
  • Programming skills (e.g. Python / R / Matlab/ Java/JavaScript/ C++) and experience with machine learning approaches would be of great advantage
  • Ability to work in a team, independent worker, flexibility
