The Healthy Living Spaces Lab of the institute for Occupational, Social and Environmental Medicine at Uniklinik RWTH Aachen is looking for

Research interns (f/m/d) in environmental psychology

The internship is initially limited for 3 months and unpaid.

The time frame of the internship is flexible and discussable. Remote work is possible. The position is to be filled as soon as possible. The internship will be supervised by Dr. Rania Christoforou (Clinical Psychology Ph.D.) and Janine Bardey (Energy engineering M.Sc.)

The teaching and research area Healthy Living Spaces Lab (headed by Prof. Dr. Marcel Schweiker) aims at the development of innovative approaches to the design of living spaces and buildings, to the analysis of sources of disturbance and to the development and establishment of preventive measures. The working group sees itself as an inter- and transdisciplinary link between medical research and relevant research activities from engineering, natural and social sciences.

Tasks

They will mainly work on a project that investigates the effect of living space design on user comfort and behaviour in collaboration with participants. The experiments are to be conducted between July and October by the Healthy Living Spaces working group from Aachen on the premises of the Living Lab NRW in Wuppertal. The internship includes the possibility to accompany the preparations and the analysis of the experiments.

The tasks during the preparation until July include

  • Support in setting up the questionnaires in SoSci Survey (remote possible)
  • Preparation of the experiments in the Living Lab (in Wuppertal) Tasks during the analysis include 
  • Support with statistical analysis of the participant data (remote possible)

In addition, you will also support our multidisciplinary team on other interesting projects with your psychological knowledge and perspectives.

Profile

You are a student in Psychology with

  • Strong background in basic empirical research methods and data analysis
  • Preferable: 
    • Experience with SoSci Survey
    • Experience in programming with R or python
  • Interest for interdisciplinary research
  • For foreign students: valid residence certificate, work permit, registration certificate
