Further training for physicians
Together with sonography experts from the region, we offer certified courses to interested colleagues. In all continuing education courses, the practice-oriented and interactive delivery of relevant content in small groups, under the guidance of experienced ultrasound examiners, is our priority. The courses are certified by the German Society for Ultrasound in Medicine (DEGUM), as well as by the National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians (KBV) or the European Federation of Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology (EFSUMB). Together with established companies such as Schallware or Sono-Fun, we offer various courses at our premises. Bowel sonography courses, for example, take place on a regular basis. In the drop-down menus, you will find further information on the certificationcourses offered in Aachen:
Held once a year together with certified sonographers from various European countries, particularly the Euregio. Due to its international nature, the course is held in English. A special feature is that, in addition to scanning volunteer subjects, participants also practice on a simulator (shared by two participants). The course follows DEGUM and EFSUMB guidelines.

Observerships
Observerships are welcome, e.g. as part of certification for DEGUM or IBUS. Please direct inquiries to khamesch@ukaachen.de.
Teaching for Students
We offer interested students various opportunities for hands-on ultrasound training. Building on a beginner course covering normal anatomy, willing patients can be examined by students under the supervision of an experienced physician in the advanced course. The courses are run in cooperation with AIXTRA, further information aixtra.rwth-aachen.de/studierende.
As part of the final clinical year (Praktisches Jahr), we offer a "sonography rotation." More Information can be found here.
The sonography team of Medical Clinic III also runs an intensive abdominal-sonography summer school, "Scanning under Palm Trees."
