In our specialist consultation for inflammatory bowel syndrome (IBD) and short bowel syndrome, we offer care and a second opinion for the following conditions:
- Crohn's disease
- Ulcerative colitis
- Indeterminate colitis
- Microscopic colitis
- Short bowel syndrome (SBS) / chronic intestinal failure
In addition to comprehensive diagnostic measures (blood and stool testing, high-resolution ultrasound, as well as state-of-the-art endoscopic procedures), we develop an individualized treatment plan. For this purpose, we have available to us both established medications, including so-called biologics and small molecules, as well as modern endoscopic and surgical methods. Corresponding infusions or injections can be administered at our university outpatient clinic. Where necessary, treatment is planned on an interdisciplinary basis together with the other departments of our hospital (nutritional medicine, rheumatology, dermatology, neurology, radiology, hepatology, endocrinology, gynecology, proctology, surgery). We are therefore able to offer modern, interdisciplinary care from a single source.
For many years, we have been providing guideline-based care, reflecting the latest medical knowledge, to numerous patients from the region and surrounding area. We also care for young patients from the age of 18 (including transition care from our pediatric clinic), as well as patients who wish to conceive, are pregnant, or have recently given birth. For patients with a long-standing condition, we prepare a monitoring plan covering the IBD and/or short bowel syndrome, associated conditions, and vaccinations. In the case of a severe disease course, inpatient care, diagnostics, and treatment are also available with us.
