At the International Combined Orthopaedic Research Societies 2025 (ICORS) in Adelaide, Priv.-Doz. Dr. rer. nat. Holger Jahr, research associate at the Institute of Anatomy and Cell Biology at Uniklinik RWTH Aachen, presented recent findings from the CarBoMD project, funded by the Federal Ministry for Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR). His lecture, titled “Innovative Biomaterial Solutions to Prevent Secondary Gonarthrosis”, was part of the joint workshop of the European Orthopaedic Research Society (EORS) and the Taiwanese Orthopaedic Research Society (TORS). The presentation showcased advances from the Institute of Structural Mechanics and Lightweight Design at RWTH Aachen University.
A particular highlight was Dr. Jahr’s induction as a Fellow of International Orthopaedic Research: „I am deeply honored to have been inducted as a Fellow of International Orthopaedic Research (FIOR) at the recent ICORS meeting in Adelaide. This international conference convened top researchers worldwide to share cutting-edge musculoskeletal research through excellent presentations and symposia. Congratulations to the local organizers and ICORS leadership for a superb event. I also had the privilege to chair a session and contribute to the EORS-TORS workshop, fostering scientific exchange and collaboration. Having been inducted just last year as a Fellow of Orthopaedic Research (FORS) by the Orthopaedic Research Society, this recognition now makes me the first and only Fellow of both prestigious societies with a German affiliation. Importantly, this honor is reserved for less than 5% of the members of each society, underscoring the exclusivity and significance of being both FORS and FIOR. I am sincerely grateful to RWTH Aachen, SLA, and UKA for their continued support. Thanks also to ICORS, immediate past president Bernd Grimm, FIOR chair Brian Johnstone, and EORS for proposing me. Congratulations to all international colleagues and co-Fellows, especially the newly inducted Fellows endorsed by EORS.”
