We had an amazing time sharing their science at Pint of Science in Aachen—good beer and even better company! Joel Selkrig kicked things off with a talk about our bodies as bustling ecosystems, filled with microbes that might just hold the key to our health. Kaiyi Zhang followed with a deep dive into Salmonella infections in newborns, highlighting the complex relationship between this sneaky pathogen and its tiny hosts. The crowd was captivated, peppering us with questions about everything from gut microbes to neonatal sepsis. Between talks, we sipped local brews and chatted with curious minds from all walks of life. The atmosphere was a buzz. By the end of the night, we felt like we’d shared not just our work, but our passion for discovery. And that’s what science communication is all about—good times, good people, and good ideas.
