01.06.2026 – Thyroid hormones are positive allosteric modulators of Acid-sensing ion channels

In our last study, which has been published in Neuropharmacology, we discovered that the thyroid hormones triiodothyronine (T3) und thyroxine (T4) are positive allosteric modulators of Acid-sensing ion channels (ASICs). We hypothesize that this modulation contributes to the physiological regulation of ASIC activity.
